A Certificate of Compliance is required whenever a property changes hands, when a rental property is let, and after any significant electrical work. Estate agents and attorneys will tell you the same thing: no COC, no transfer, no keys. It's also increasingly required by insurance companies and by body corporates when units are sold within a complex.

The inspection is a proper test, not a walk-around with a clipboard. We test the earth leakage unit, check the DB board and its connections, test socket polarity and earth continuity, verify the earthing system, and inspect the visible wiring for damage or DIY bodge jobs. On a typical house this takes an hour or two, and we issue the certificate there and then if everything passes.

If faults are found, we give you a written list and a quote to fix them — and we'll do the repairs and re-issue the certificate. Most properties pass with minor work: a socket wired incorrectly here, a missing earth there. We also see a fair share of installations that should never have been certified, which is exactly why a proper inspection is worth the fee. The COC is your legal protection, and we don't sign our name to work we wouldn't stand behind.
